Introduction
WST-8 is a new generation of water-soluble tetrazolium salt compounds, which can be used in NADH active analysis. Compared with the traditional use of MTT (CAS#298-93-1), WST-8 has modified many high-polarity nitro and sulfonic groups on the peripheral aromatic ring to increase its water solubility. However, this modification also makes it unable to pass through the cell membrane and directly carry out the redox reaction in the cytoplasm. Thus, the cell activity can only be quickly detected with the presentation of electron transfer media.
