Introduction

     The CCK8 assay kit provides a fast, simple and convenient cell viability test. As shown in Figure 1, the light yellow WST8 can be reduced into an orange water-soluble formazan product after a series of redox reactions by intracellular dehydrogenase. The number of living cells is proportional to the absorption of orange WST8 formazan. By detecting the absorbance of formazan (wavelength at 450 nm), the proliferation of living cells can be detected, and then the survival of cells can be analyzed.

Surprisingly long shelf life

As Figure 2, this product uses a patented preservative agent, which can slowly release protective gas to lower the background value effectively. More convenient

     Traditionally, the MTT kit was used for cell proliferation. After culturing, a water-insoluble formazan product was formed, which accumulated inside the cells and killed the cells. Moreover, after culturing, the supernatant must be removed, and  added an organic solvent to dissolve the formazan product before spectral measurement. In contrast, the CCK-8 assay does not require the procedure of removing and adding, which is not only more convenient, but also avoids errors in operation. In addition, the cells are still alive and healthy after measurement, and subsequent experiments such as protein extraction, fluorescent staining, etc. can be continued.

Excellent sensitivity

     As shown in Figure 3, we used two cell lines and three different assays to compare at the same time. The sensitivity exhibited by CCK-8 was the best one among these three assays regardless of the cell line. In fact, more and more journal articles have reported the same conclusion with us. Therefore, we sincerely recommend you to use the CCK-8 kit, which can save you a lot of experimental time and labor work.
