​Introduction

Calcein AM is a hydrophobic compound that can penetrate membrane of living cell and be hydrolyzed by cell esterase to obtain fluorescent calcein (as shown in Figure 1.). Calcein has highly polar carboxylic acid groups can not penetrate the cell membrane again and remain in the cytoplasm, so we can use to count the number of living cells. CAMsee assay kit is sensitive and reliable, unaffected by redox substances in sample, and can stain and quantify living cells within  1 hour. The Calcein AM Cell Viability Assay can be adapted to a variety of fluorescence devices such as 96-well plate ELISA reader, fluorescence microscopes, and flow cytometers. This assay can be used for a variety of suspension and adherent cell studies, such as cell viability, cell adhesion, chemotaxis, multidrug resistance, apoptosis, and cytotoxicity.

​Product Features

​As shown in Figure 2, live cells can be observed directly with a microscope; the number of live cells can also be quantified with a fluorescence spectrometer. High sensitivity, accurate quantification as low cell concentration as <100 cells / mL.
